Fishipedia and Collector are different goals

Collector’s official condition is to find and kill all creatures. Fishipedia narrows the requirement to all Drip creatures, meaning the rare variant layer must be handled explicitly. Completing the ordinary collection is useful because it gives you a master species list, but it should be the start of the Fishipedia audit rather than proof that Fishipedia is done.

Use the fish tracker as your base inventory, then add a Drip-kill column. Do not merge the two achievements into a single vague checkmark. A creature can be complete for the normal collection while its Drip counterpart is still missing.

Build a checklist that records evidence

The location note does not need to become a detailed diary. A few words are enough to distinguish a confirmed event from "I remember seeing one somewhere." If you later need to repeat a target, the note also tells you which route or habitat produced the encounter.

1. Open the complete creature list and create one row for every relevant entry rather than relying on memory.
2. Add columns for Drip seen, Drip killed, save used, and a short location or circumstances note.
3. Mark "killed" only when your attack finishes the variant and the game has time to register the result.
4. Leave uncertain historical entries blank or label them "recheck." Do not convert familiarity into completion evidence.
5. Keep the work on one main cleanup save when possible so the recorded progress and your checklist remain aligned.

Use a controlled kill routine

When a missing Drip variant appears, pause the wider search and secure that entry. Keep it in view, choose dependable damage, and avoid unnecessary trick shots. The objective is a registered kill, not a valuable sale, a multiplier record, or simultaneous progress on 360 no scope. Combining challenges makes the final damage harder to verify.

After the creature dies, allow the collection or save feedback to settle before leaving the area. Update the checklist immediately. If another actor, hazard, or uncertain effect might have delivered the final hit, mark the row for recheck rather than declaring it done.

• Prioritize missing variants over duplicates, even when the duplicate is more valuable.
• Use familiar equipment so a rare appearance is not lost to experimentation.
• Avoid ending the session during the registration moment.
• Record the kill on the same device as the checklist before continuing the hunt.

Understand the patch 1.0.5 correction

Earlier versions had a Fishipedia bug often described as requiring "all + 1." Patch 1.0.5 fixed that problem. On a current build, do not search for a secret twenty-ninth-style entry, duplicate the entire roster, or invent a hidden Drip creature merely because an old post documents the workaround.

Version context matters when reading community advice. A report written before the fix can accurately describe that player’s experience and still be wrong for your installation. Check the date and patch mentioned in a guide before treating its final-count behavior as current.

Audit a complete-looking list that did not unlock

This targeted audit is faster than immediately wiping the checklist or beginning a second full collection. It also produces useful evidence if the current version genuinely fails to unlock after every Drip kill has been reconfirmed.

1. Confirm the installed game is updated beyond the 1.0.5 fix and restart normally if an update was pending.
2. Compare your rows with the full creature tracker and look for missing names, duplicate names, or a normal kill mistaken for a Drip kill.
3. Review every row without a location, session, or clear recollection of the finishing hit and change it to "recheck."
4. Re-kill the shortest, safest uncertain entries first, waiting for registration after each one.
5. Check Steam after each confirmed cleanup kill so you know which correction resolved the list.
