How to Fish Islet Update: New Bait and Radar Help

Find the small radar contacts and use the Fishipedia bait label before chasing a missing Drip catch.

PRIMARY QUERY · how to fish islet update

Quick answer

The Islet update (1.1.0) adds mini islands, a new bait, creatures, a mini-boss, a weapon, an NPC and achievements. Update through 1.1.3 before following old lure tables: 1.1.2 enlarged mini-island radar dots and fixed Tench spawning from the new bait; 1.1.3 shows a fish’s bait name in Fishipedia after you have killed that fish once.

Returning after the launch version can make an old map feel incomplete. The September 28 Islet update adds places and catches beyond the original route. This guide covers the official changes that help you find those additions and check the right bait, without inventing island coordinates or a drop table.

Start by checking your installed version. The two September 29 follow-up patches matter to exploration and fishing, so an experience recorded on 1.1.0 alone can differ from 1.1.3.

Look for mini-island radar contacts

The original five-contact progression diagram remains a route reference for the launch campaign. It is not a complete map of the Islet update. Version 1.1.0 added several mini islands and changed the spacing between islands; version 1.1.2 then made the small islands’ radar dots larger.

Use the in-game radar when looking for the new contacts. An old screenshot’s travel time or distance is not a reliable ruler after a spacing change. The official notes do not provide numerical coordinates, so there is no verified X/Y list to copy from this page.

  1. Confirm that the installed build includes 1.1.2 or later.
  2. Check the in-game radar for the small island contacts.
  3. Use the launch map for the main quest sequence, then follow the radar for the extra islands.
  4. If a contact is hard to distinguish, compare the version before assuming the save is broken.

Why the new bait may behave differently in old videos

Patch 1.1.2 increased the new bait spawn on the new mini island from two to three. It also fixed Tench being unable to spawn from that bait. A launch-day report that Tench never appears can therefore describe a bug that was subsequently addressed.

This does not establish a guaranteed Tench catch, a particular respawn interval, or the odds of a Drip variant. Keep those questions separate from the confirmed fix. For your next attempt, first check that the game is updated and that you are using the bait indicated by the current Fishipedia.

Use the Fishipedia bait name after the first kill

Version 1.1.3 added a bait-name display to Fishipedia. The label appears after you have killed that fish once. This is especially useful when you already have the normal entry and want to return for a Drip version: the game itself can now identify the bait to use.

If the bait name is absent, check whether the first-kill condition has been met before treating the missing label as a display bug. If you have not encountered the creature yet, this new field is not a complete discovery guide. An older community lure table can offer a lead, but a revealed in-game label should guide the next attempt when it disagrees with the table.

  1. Open the Fishipedia entry for a creature you have already killed.
  2. Read the bait name shown by the current game.
  3. Equip that bait and use the local tracker to note the catch you are still missing.
  4. If a guide row disagrees, record the creature, bait name and game version rather than assuming a new spawn rule.

What else was added?

The 1.1.0 announcement lists a weapon, additional creatures, a mini-boss, items, an NPC, an outfit and achievements alongside the mini islands and bait. It does not publish a complete named checklist or a walkthrough for the new encounter. The follow-up 1.1.2 notes add reload rebinding, two bow skins, adjusted wishbone upgrade pricing and the option to return to an ironsight.

Check control bindings after updating if reloading feels different. For purchases or upgrades, read the amount shown in the current menu; a price quoted before the wishbone adjustment may no longer apply. These patch notes are useful for deciding what to recheck, even when they do not supply every number.

Can I continue an old save?

In a September 28 Reddit discussion, potionseller123 asked whether the new achievements could be completed from a finished save, and Cozy_77 asked which lures catch the new fish. The thread author, _GamesForgeSoul_, reported using an old save to visit the mini islands. That is a player report, not a guarantee for every save.

For a returning player, keep a backup and try the existing save before starting over. Use the current radar and the 1.1.3 Fishipedia bait field for the two questions raised in that thread. The official patch notes confirm those navigation and bait changes; they do not publish a universal save-recovery procedure.

Keep launch trackers separate from current completion

The achievement board now contains all 31 names and objectives on the Steam public list checked on October 10: the original 28 plus Bilingual, Money in a bottle and Hobin Rood. Earn your first euro, find money in a bottle, and kill a creature with an arrow, respectively. Existing browser-local ticks remain attached to the older entries.

Likewise, the fish tracker is a set of sourced entries, not a complete 1.1.3 bestiary. Use it for the entries it contains and use Fishipedia for newly added creatures. Your existing ticks remain useful; they simply cannot prove that every later addition has been completed.

Before changing PCs or troubleshooting a save

Steam Cloud support arrived in 1.0.12, before the Islet update. The developer instructs players to play and exit the game once on the PC containing the save to upload it. Start on that original machine when moving an older local save to another PC.

Keep a separate copy of the local save folder before resolving a conflict or trying a recovery. Cloud synchronization transfers files; it does not prove that the copy you are about to select contains the progress you want. The save-location guide covers the Windows and Proton folders.

Questions players ask

Why can’t I catch Tench with the new bait?

Patch 1.1.2 fixed Tench being unable to spawn from the new bait. Update first. The patch does not promise a catch on every attempt.

How do I see which bait a fish needs?

On 1.1.3, Fishipedia displays the bait name after you have killed that fish once.

Does the old five-island map include the Islet update?

No. It describes the original main route. The Islet update added mini islands and changed island spacing; use the current radar for those additions.

Are there only 28 achievements?

Steam lists 31 achievements as checked on October 10, 2026. The board now includes Bilingual, Money in a bottle and Hobin Rood alongside the original 28.

Do I need to start a new save for the Islet update?

One player in the linked achievement discussion reports completing the new tasks on an old save. Keep a backup and try your existing save first; this report is not a guarantee for every file.
